ROHS Combined Choirs September 2007 Newsletter

This newsletter is designed to keep you updated on choir activities throughout the year.

Notes from the Director

Welcome everyone to the ROHS Vocal Music Department. Well, the old saying goes, "where did the summer go?' Well, I spent most of my time getting my twins ready for their first year of college. What a happy/sad time for me.  I already miss all those activities at the high school level. Where did the 4 years go?  It is proven over and over again, that successful students have involved parents. We are definitely on a mission this year to get 100% parent involvement for our choir students.  Your involvement to our student’s success is crucial.

  • We are in the last stages of building a ROHS vocal music library.  It was a tremendous amount of work for many individuals. Thank you goes out to Mr. Kline and Mr. Kimmel, for their vision and labor in designing and building our new library, which is next to the choir office.  Thank you to Mrs. Semivan and Mrs. Stewart, who worked endlessly on filing and all the students who participated in the transfer of material into the library. We now hold one of the oldest and richest vocal music libraries in Oakland County. It still needs a lot of work but we are really close.  Parent help here would be greatly appreciated. If you are at all interested in voluntary library work, I always stay late on Tuesdays after school.  Please e-mail me and we can set something up.
  • It's been a great start to our year and I hope to meet many of you, especially freshmen parents, at the upcoming Curriculum Night.

    Expectation Sheets

Also attached with this newsletter are the expectation sheets for each choir.  These were sent home the first week of classes and most likely you have already signed it and sent it back in.  Since there is such a flurry of paperwork the first couple weeks and sometimes we just scan what we are signing, Mrs. Buffa though it would be a good idea to include them.

The Tempo committee is hard at work finishing up the choir handbook. As soon as it is completed a copy will be distributed to each choir family.  It is our hope that it will answer any questions you may have regarding the vocal music program at Royal Oak HS. In the meantime if you have any questions, TEMPO contact information is listed below. Again welcome to the ROHS vocal music program.
