Choir - Oct Addendum

Director’s Notes Addendum to November Newsletter

Dec. 1st is - State Honor's Choir auditions/All-State Honor's Choir auditions.

This year we had 7 students that auditioned for the Regional’s Honor Choir.  Three of our students made this cut.  They are KH - Soprano I, MO - Alto II, and BK - Tenor I.  They will now be going on to the State/All-State auditions, which are held the same day as the Regional Honor's Choir Rehearsal/Concert which is Dec. 1.

Your son or daughter is presently involved in a critique project in choir. They need to write a critique paper of a live performance OR attend Solo & Ensemble Festival.  All students have been given the criteria for their paper.  They have also been given the information concerning going to Solo & Ensemble Festival.  All papers are due on November 21.  No late papers will be accepted, except in situations of illness.  This paper will represent a large portion of the student's theory grade for the second card-marking.  If a student chooses to attend Solo & Ensemble Festival, they need to choose their singing partner(s), their music, their accompanist and the teacher that will

be teaching the music.   The fees are as follows:  soloist - $10, 2 to 5 singers - $20, and 6 or more singers - $30. The commitment form for Solo & Ensemble Festival, with all of the correct information, is also due on Nov. 21 along with a check for their registration fee.  All students have received a commitment form.   If a student goes to Solo and Ensemble Festival, they waive all of their papers for the year.  Critique papers will be due at the end of the 2nd and 5th card-markings. Checks for registration fees should be made out to ROHS. Individual checks for accompanists are made out separately to their accompanist.

Also, students that make the state level in the Solo & Ensemble Festival must finish the project and attend the state level. At the state level, they must drop one of their songs, and learn a new song. They also sight-read at the state level along with singing their two songs. If there are any questions concerning this critique project, please e-mail me.

Students attending Tag Day will receive extra credit.  If they cover two shifts, they will receive double extra credit, etc.
