Notes from the Director
Happy New Year everyone. January seems to be starting off REALLY BUSY. I am in the midst of preparing and administering students for their mid-term exam and A’Cappella vocal auditions. Students that get 80% or better on their written exam will be allowed to audition, if they choose, for advanced placement into A’Cappella Choir, regardless of their grade. Auditions will be determined after the end of first semester. The auditions will most likely be after school.
Students will be signing up for time slots once the list is finalized.
The list for time events for Solo and Ensemble Festival was given out on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Ask your son or daughter for their day and time. These students extended themselves to be critiqued by an adjudicator. Bravo for your hard work and good luck! Remember that you need to arrive at least one-half hour before your warm up time. Howell High School is the festival site. Wear nice clothes. Please make sure that your two pieces of music have been measure marked. You will not get a rating if this does not occur.
Spectrum auditions were last week. The finalized list for participants will be out by the start of second semester.
Incomplete lists will be coming out in a few days. Your son or daughter will be given a hard copy of the missing items. Please ask them for this list or if they are even on it.
We also have a few CD’s left of the Winter Concert. They concert and CD was FANTASTIC! Thank you to Mr. Vier for your hard work in putting that whole project together.
