Winter Concert

Tickets are $7 and it is reserved seating. Order form is attached.

This tends to be a largely attended event so order your tickets early! TEMPO will be selling flowers both evenings pre-concert and at intermission.

Please remember video cameras and flash photography is not permitted.

An afterglow is held in the cafeteria following the Winter Concert both evenings.

Baked good donations are needed for both afterglows. TEMPO will be providing the punch both nights. In addition to the baked good donations, we will need ticket sellers (2 per night), flower sellers (2 per night for pre-show and 2 for intermission), set up (2 per night), refreshment servers (4 per night), clean up (2 per night).  We figured it would be easier if parents could contact TEMPO if they are able to bake and/or volunteer, so please contact Peggy Kline 248-545-5229 or pikline@wowway.com if you are able to do either or both!  We will be contacting parents based on the volunteer sheets from September if we don’t get enough volunteers/baked goods doing it this way.

As always, thank you for your help and support.

Notes from the Director

Attire for the Winter Concert:

  • First half of the concert for all performing groups - concert attire, provided by the district.
  • Second half of concert – A’Cappella Choir wears homecoming clothes: gowns, dresses, suits and ties.
  • Concert Choir - wears long-sleeved holiday tops (Green, red, and/or white) with black bottoms.
  • Royal Oak Singers - wear pajamas (appropriate, please).
  • Chamber Singers - selected costume
  • There are some crucial rehearsals/auditions coming up.
  • Friday, Dec. 1 - "Silent Night" audition right after school.
  • Monday, Dec. 4 and/or Tuesday, Dec. 5 - all girls after school to practice
  • "How Can I Keep From Singing"
  • (Girls must choose one of these days to practice.)
  • Thursday, Dec. 6 - All guys to practice "Prayer of the Children"

Auditions for "The Christmas Song" and the Senior Song Solo will be held after rehearsal on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. These rehearsals will last approximately one hour.

The students are really signing up for Solo and Ensemble Festival, which is Friday or Saturday, Jan. 18 & 19th.  They will know their date before they leave for break.  Also, the sign up sheet for SPECTRUM is already on the band room door.  Any student in a performing arts class may audition for this. The auditions are set for Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 right after school. Students must sign up for an audition time slot and may sign up more than once.  You cannot sign up until you know your type of performance, performers in the group, and the name of the song.

President’s Notes

We will once again have a Poinsettia Sale for the Winter Concerts.  Order forms are attached.  Plants will be used to decorate in and around the auditorium and may be taken home after the last concert. Orders are due by 12/03/07.  Please see the attached form for details.

Our first TAG Day weekend in November was a success!  We raised almost $1600 for our general fund.  Thank you one and all!  It was all possible due to the dedicated parents that organized the TAG days and the students and parent chaperones that were stationed at local businesses.

We couldn’t have done it without you!

At our November Board meeting, TEMPO decided to pursue the TAG Day weekend as our primary annual fundraiser.  This will replace the catalog sales we have done in the past.  In an effort to avoid conflicts with other school groups, TEMPO will schedule the TAG days in the spring.  That being said, we will be planning another TAG day weekend in spring 2008 and these proceeds will go into the fund for next year’s budget.  Our next attempt will include more businesses and our goal is to also have a percentage of the monies earned go directly into student accounts.  Stay tuned for more details after the New Year!

Finally, I would like to wish you and your family all the best this Holiday Season and a New Year filled with health, happiness and prosperity!
