Notes from the Director

All freshmen are asked to buy an Autumn Concert ticket, sit in the audience and enjoy their upper classmen's performance.  If they do this, they will get extra credit toward their grade.  If you cannot attend, that's ok since it is extra credit and it was not on the original performance list.  Also, they will be invited to come up on stage and sing on one song, titled "Why We Sing"; they will be singing with the other 100 students already on stage.  Can you imagine, approximately 150 singers?  They need to wear all black, nice clothes, for that evening. The Autumn Concert is 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9th. The flyer is already out on e-mail.   I am also auditioning soloists from the freshmen class to sing the small solo/descant part in that song.   It will be a wonderful experience for your son or daughter!!  Thank you again for sharing your child's talents with me.

I am now collecting money ($4) for two workshops that will be the two days right after our Autumn Concert.  Wednesday, October 10th is "For Men Only" workshop.  We will be traveling to South Lyon H.S.  We need parent drivers/chaperones.  There are no busses available.  Also, Thursday, October 11th is "For Women Only" also $4.  We will be traveling to Walled Lake Central H.S.  I also need drivers/chaperones.  Both groups will be eating lunch out so students need to bring money for buying their lunch.  Their money needs to be in by this Friday, Sept. 28th, for me to make a decision if these fieldtrips are going to happen.

These two workshops are open to all three choirs.

Also, don't forget the upcoming Hayride for A Cappella Choir only.  Students will be bringing home a flyer this week about it.

We also will be having auditions this and/or next week for a female duet sung with the orchestra.  This is open to only Concert Choir and A Cappella women.  The song is "Laudamus Te".

Oakland University is letting me chose 10 students, highly interested in Broadway style of singing, to attend a workshop on Saturday October 20th.  If more than 10 sign up, then I will have to choose 10. They will be observing a famous Broadway voice teacher in action.  This will be held at Oakland University.  More details to follow.  This activity is open to all choirs.
