These are a list of the clubs that have been at the high schools in previous years. Many are slated to continue but this is a tentative list and we suggest your student pay close attention at school to any announcements or fliers or posters to find out the most recent information.

Achievement Letter – Ms Cutler

Have you been involved in school-sponsored clubs? Have you volunteered your time to the Royal Oak community? If you have, you may be eligible to receive a Royal Oak High School Achievement Letter. See Mrs. Cutler in room 215 for details or extra forms.

Art Club – Martha Shrode - Meets weekly after school in the art room.  It is open to all students whether they are enrolled in art classes or not.  Students work on projects of their own choice or sometimes on a group project.

Be The Change Club meets on Wednesdays at 2:30pm in the Media Center. Come help create a more positive school environment. ALL STUDENTS ARE WELCOME!

Bowling Club - Neal Drilich & Matt Milazzo - The club meets on Thursdays after school January through March.  The program culminates in a two-week tournament competing against teams from other MSAA schools.  The club is open to girls and boys.

Boy's Forestry Club – Sam Lynch - Creates and maintains greater interest in forestry and conservation.  This club is open to junior and senior boys.  The club sponsors for its members many outdoor activities, including camping, skiing, and canoeing.  In addition, the members attend area sports events as a group throughout the year.

Business Professionals of America (BPA) - Nada Northey  - The purpose of BPA is to prepare students for the business world. BPA builds leadership, professionalism, poise, dependability, patriotism, and competency through many business related activities.

Campus Life - Priscilla Bowen  - Campus Life is a nondenominational, Christian Bible study club. They meet in room 220 on Tuesday mornings at 7:20 AM

Debate Club - Debbie Natke

Drama Club - Michael Kaufman - Membership is open to any student interested in acting, music and dance, or behind-the-scenes production such as costumes, scenery and lighting. Everyone gets a job backstage or onstage.

Gay-Straight Alliance - Doug Robbins

German Club – Monty Weathers -Meets every other week to provide interested German students with additional opportunities to meet one another on an informal basis.  Every year the club helps sponsor exchange students who come from Germany.  Several activities are planned during the school year with students of German from the two Troy High Schools.  Activities such as going to see a move in German or to a local restaurant are some of the things they do.  Activities are sometimes planned with local German-American groups such as Oktoberfest and Karneval at area club headquarters.  Each year they also rent a bus and spend a day in Frankenmuth, Michigan for a taste of Germany.

Human Relations Advisory Council - Anne Davies, Ann Maudlin, Mary Sutton - All issues and activities of the council are aimed at promoting respect and acceptance for differences at Royal Oak.  Membership is by application.

International Club – Jo Fetsco - International Club is open to all students. It meets once a month after school. Activities include eating at ethnic restaurants, and service projects such as canned food drives. Meeting days and times vary. Watch and listen for announcements.

Key Club - Jennifer Cutler, Betsy Sheckles - The Key Club is an international high school service organization. It is sponsored around the world by Kiwanis International, a community service organization for professional adults.

Knit-Crochet Club – Rita Mercier

Royal Oak Model United Nations – Steve Chisnell - Royal Oak's Model United Nations ambassadors meet throughout the school year for activities promoting awareness of world social and political issues.  They adopt world causes to promote at Royal Oak and compete at state, national, and international levels in United Nations simulations.  The organization is similar to Debate with students researching and arguing for a particular nation's position.  Meetings are at least once per month during the year, but smaller delegations meet more often as competition draws near, usually in the spring.

Music Recording Club (MRC) – Rob Dietiker - This club is for those who like to make music. In M.R.C.... you will take trips to real recording studios like the Tempermill to record and learn to use recording equipment. M.R.C.... accepts any type of musical talent ranging from a solo singer to a hardcore 10 man band. Even if you are beginning in music, being a member of the M.R.C.... teach you all you want to know.

National Honor Society - Ray McMann, Kariann Orth, Noelle Ochoa - Membership in the Royal Oak High School chapter of the National Honor Society is an honor conferred by the faculty.  Students who attain a grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the end of their sophomore or junior year, and meet requirements of service, leadership and character established by a faculty council, are eligible.  As N.H.S. members, students must maintain the high standards of scholarship, service leadership and character within the school and community.  Meetings are held every other week.  The group provides tutoring service through the Homework Place in the Media Center before and after school.

Newsmagazine - The Acorn – Ann Maudlin - ROHS Magazine is both a class and a club. It is a national award winning magazine featuring students’ poetry, art, and other creative expressions.   

Newspaper - Gail Bennett - The publication is named the Herald.

Photography Club – Chuck Steele - Students learn to take better pictures and develop black and white photographs in Royal Oak's own darkroom. The club goes on monthly after school picture taking events and meets afterwards to develop and discuss pictures taken.  Supplies needed:  a 35 mm camera, dues to pay chemical costs, and their own supply of photographic paper.

Ping Pong Club - A chance for students to learn how to play ping pong and the rules.  Any student can join and it's done during lunch hour.

Quiz Bowl - Rick Pfeifle  - Quiz Bowl is all about dedication and competition. We meet every Tuesday.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) - Jim Bowker - SADD’s mission is to help teens avoid destructive decisions such as drunk driving, drug abuse, and other decisions that may harm life. SADD conducts many different types of fund raising events. The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) meet every Thursday in the Media Center from 2:30 - 3.

Spanish Club - Bertha Arribas - The purpose of this club is to bring together, socially, students who are currently studying Spanish or have had two years of Spanish.  Members eat at ethnic restaurants, attend foreign language festivals, participate in fund-raising sales, and engage in other social activities.

Students for Environmental Awareness (SEA) - Ben Roeder - SEA members promote environmental and social issues. They run the school recycling program.

Student Government - John Decker, Kim Martin

Swing Club – Jan Stewart

Varsity Club - Paul Engelberts - This club meets after school on the 2nd Thursday of each month.  The club activities include getting involved in public service projects.  The club also helps out with Special Olympics and CP Games with qualifying students.

Video Club – Dick Rockwell

Writer’s Club – Jill Gardy

Yearbook – Beverly Wine - will be called The Legacy
