Royal Oak High School Marching Band - June 8, 2006 Students and Parents- The end of the school year has arrived, and I wanted to get as much information in your hands before you leave for break as possible. There are still some issues being worked out with rehearsal schedules and student schedules, but I cannot put off distribution of information any longer. I wanted to give out all the information, all at one time, so there was no confusion. Unfortunately, I will have to give it to you in pieces as final details are still being worked on. This packet includes a performance schedule for the fall, as well as some preliminary information on summer rehearsals and band camp. More information will be handed out at the summer rehearsals and/or in a mailing home. Right now, drum major auditions are wrapping up and the new pre-game and halftime shows are being designed. Equipment is being packed up in both schools and is being transferred to Keller Middle School for access during the summer. New uniforms have been designed and are in production. We expect they will be delivered in time for the first football game. Assuming enrollment stays where it is, or continues to increase, the plan for the show is The Moody Blues’, Days of Future Passed. Most people will recognize two of the tunes as soon as they hear them: “Tuesday, Afternoon” and “Nights in White Satin”. The show will be challenging and fun for all of the students and staff, and will be a hit with the audience. I imagine my Dondero number would be removed soon after school gets out, and I do not have a ROHS number yet. I fully expect that when the dust settles by the end of the summer, left standing will be an outstanding marching band that will make our entire community proud.
